Have talked about this group of friends before. We came together because of knitting. About 2 1/2 years ago we met at an evening class and something clicked with us. The core group started out with about 5 of us and our group has now grown to include 4 more people. We not only enjoy knitting together but we are also in a book club together. Earlier this year we got all of us together with the hubbies at my house and we had a great time. A couple in the group have other artistic interests which including painting, quilting and we ooh and aah when see their completed projects.
We share many stories of our families and life's other challenges. One in the group is currently being treated for breast cancer. We have all come together in making various meals for her and her hubby (who still has not mastered cooking in the kitchen yet), taking her to her treatments, visiting with her.
Can't speak for the others but probably the hardest thing for me has been talking to her about what she is going through. It is like you always have that elephant in the room and you just kind of know it is there but what do you say. Carolyn talks very openly about her treatments, how she feels and that has helped me to ask her questions and just be normal. Hell if it was a cold/flu or a rash I would be asking all kinds of darn questions.
Anyway, last week it was Carolyn's birthday and Bev's as well. So we decided to celebrate both of their day's together and have a pot luck over at Carolyn's house. We usually go down to Roseville and eat our hearts at the Golden Dragon but we wanted to visit and knit.
Sharing a couple of pictures from that day.
